Mary was born on 25 Jun 1798 at Mile End, Stepney, and baptised on 25 Aug 1798 at the Independent chapel Bull Lane, Stepney.
She was named Hall after her father’s close friend and partner Stephen Hall, who lived nearby at New Grove, Mile End. As a girl she ‘spent much time with Mr & Mrs Hall at Mile End, because it was thought better than the City for a child’. In 1821 she was the Treasurer of the female branch of the Stepney Auxiliary Missionary Society.
She married in 1825, as his second wife, Isaac Sewell (1784-1865), of Wanstead Manor, High Street, Wanstead, by whom she had two sons and a daughter (Isaac William 1829, Stephen Arthur 1831 and Elizabeth Emma 1834). Isaac Sewell was senior partner of Amory, Sewell & Moores, solicitors, of 25 Throgmorton Street.
Mary died on 6 Feb 1866, probably at Wanstead.
